Huzzah!

May 17th 2021

Today is Norway’s Independence Day. Our constitution was signed on this day. Although we were under Swedish rule for around 90 more years (1814-1905), we had our own internal government and mostly ruled ourselves. We shared a king and foreign minister with Sweden, but we had our own prime minister and all.

Across the country, children celebrate this day by marching, singing, playing games, and enjoying ice cream and hot dogs. Many families also gather together after the games to share a meal and play tabletop games, creating a fun and memorable day for all.

The past few days have been busy at work. Many people tend to party the day before since the 17th is a day off. Champagne and other bubbly drinks are popular for celebrating.

A and I had a lovely video chat last night. We enjoyed a couple of drinks and had a great time being silly together. We listened to music, sipped some very nice scotch and talked as if we had known each other for years. It feels like we have and i feel we gave a strong connection. I find it easy to open up to her and be vulnerable, and that feels perfectly okay. It brings me joy and a sense of security to be with her. I hope that I provide her with the same feelings too. I haven’t discussed this matter in great detail with her yet, as it is still new to me. I need to process my thoughts and emotions before I can share them openly. However, I am committed to doing so soon. As I mentioned before, being with her feels effortless, uncomplicated, and safe.

Until next time!
